    7th Round

    Dear participant,

  • Category 3 is leadered by Ville Ainali from Finland with no losses (6 points).

    Good Luck to All!

    6th Round

    Dear participant,

As we mentioned before in the 5th round, in Category 1 we had a very exciting game: Lucian Deaconu (7D) vs DAE HYUK KO (7D). The winner was DAE HYUK KO, by 8,5 points. You may download the game here. In category 2 we also have a player with 5 points: Miksas. In the rest of the Categories, the 1st place is shared between more players

The Tournament is turning more exciting every round... will the leaders maintain their position? or will the results get even again? The answer is in the games!

In the Country Cup we have another surprise: USA is now in 1st Place with 24 points! And Finland is closely followed by Germany: just a 3 points SOS difference! The next rounds are crucial!

In order to make an enjoyable tournament for everyone in these final rounds, we encourage you to maintain the spirit of the tournament, the fair play and the respect for others.

    Good Luck to All!

    5th Round

    Dear participant,

As we enter the 5th round, games are gettng more and more interesting because results are tighter and more gravitant on final positions. In Category 1 and 2 for example, we will see the games of the only undefeated players, while in the Country Cup Finland is winning, but closely chased by U.S.A...

In order to make an enjoyable tournament for everyone in these final rounds, we encourage you to maintain the spirit of the tournament, the fair play and the respect for others.

    Good Luck to All!

    4th Round

    Dear contestant,

We are glad to announce that this year, as in Iwamoto Tournament 2005, there will be an extra cup: The Country Cup.

The mechanics are as follows: At the end of the tournament, we consider the best five players from each country and add the points, SOS, and SOSOS of those players to create an equivalent "country representative". The best such representative wins. Note that only players that have played until the last round are considered.

    Have a Nice Round!

    The 3rd round has begun!

We have some good news: The Results Page is ready! You may access it in the Menu Bar. There you will be able to find the players' relative positions in their category, their scores (points, sos, sosos) and their games record.

We would also like to remark a very important issue:

    - We had a significant number of european players which had problems scheduling games, because they didn't change their local time according to daylight savings time. PLEASE CHECK YOUR LOCAL TIME SETTINGS IN YOUR USER PAGE. This link is very useful to see the different time zones

    Enjoy this round!

    The 2nd round

In this second stage of the tournament, we would like to wish you all a good time, inviting you to try the best you can in your games and to base your attitude in fair play.

In order to continue with a healthy tournament, we would like to remind you that:
    - The "Message To/From Opponent" system in the User Page is the ONLY official method to communicate with your opponent.
    - Please check your Local Time settings, specially european players, who now have daylight saving time.
    - You must agree with your opponent in a date and time to play the game, that suits BOTH players, using the "Messages To/From Opponent" feature in the User Page.

    Have fun!

    Iwamoto Tournament

Last year we congregated more than 300 players around the tournament and we were very happy for that amount of participants; now we surpass by far that number: MORE THAN 500 PARTICIPANTS! So we would like to thank all of you for your support; without you, making this tournament would not have been possible. We encourage you then to play in your best spirit, looking forward on learning and progressing than just focusing on winning or losing.

You may now visit your User Page, though some of its options will be unavailable until the pairings are done, which will be on Tuesday 04:00 GMT. Until then, you may check your info and use the available options.

If you have any doubt about the Tournament, please visit the Tournament Rules by clicking the link in the navigation bar.

If you don't find your answer there, do not hesitate to send your comments to iwamoto@achgo.cl.

    Enjoy Iwamoto Tournament 2006!
